the shopping bags

i remember you hurrying up the escalator
my shopping bags unintentionally hitting your feet
again, and again, and again
and you, turning back, break into a smile

missing

i miss walking
home along the empty alleys
of causeway after midnight
the neon lights flickering
the pavement wet after the rain

after 32 missed calls and 8 text messages...

"oh anong nangyari sa yo?"

he was standing outside my door after i ignored all of his text messages and missed calls the previous hour.

kainez kasi. after hearing not a peep from him for a month, he suddenly invited me for a round of drinks. he'll be in our area daw kasi coz he's taking some classes sa aim.

ako naman si baklita, omokey kaagad kasi sabi niya di kasama si misis. but i reminded him na i'll be coming from qc and might get home only at around 10 in the evening. sabi niya wag daw masyado late kase he had to get up early in the morning for his classes.

so after i got out of work, i immediately texted him na i was on the road na. e bigla ba namang nag inarte.

nung una sabi niya di ba raw pwede na 9 pm na lang kami kita. e haller. nasa sto domingo pa kaya ko nun. and then he replied kung pwede raw iresked na lang namin for today or tomorrow.

sabi ko hinde kasi me work akesh.

e bigla ba namang humirit na magtaxi na langd a wako para mapaaga ang dating sa balaysung (ano siya jowa ko!) at inulit ang suggestion na resked na lang namin pag 10 na me dating.

so naimbierna to the max si ako! ava! ava! ava! hindi akesh ang nag invite noh. and i had to cancel pa a previous engagement for our meeting tapos siya pa ngayon ang gustong magresked.

bigla ko tuloy naalala ang advice ng isang frendiva na kalimutan na siya dahil isa siyang str8t na me asawa na. nagalit ako at naalala ang lahat ng sacrifices ko sa kanya (like going through and enduring his wedding as his bestman).

sa galit ko binura ko text messages niya at number at di na sumagot for the next hour habang paapuwi na me.

nakahalata ata dahil nevir ko talagang inanswer ang kanyang calls. pinagtitinginan na nga me ng mga katabi ko sa bus kasi i just let my phone vibrate hanggang sa tumigil siya.

i vowed never to answer him again...ayoko ng pinaglalaruan.

kaya bumili na lang me ng late dinner sa jollibee and was planning on watching tv na lang when i got home.

but only after a few seconds after i got home at 10 and closed the door behind me, me pumarang karu sa aming harapan. my ged!

i was desperately hoping na hindi siya kasi baka mawalan ko ng poise at magdrama sa harap niya.

"oh anong nangyari sa'yo?" sabi niya behind the screen ng aming main door.

"bat di ka sumasagot? nahablot ba phone mo?"

hindi ako sumagot.

hindi ko alam kung magagalit ba ako o matutuwa o sasarhan ko ba siya ng pinto.

"tuloy pa ba tayo?" was all i could say.

"yup" at napansin kong nakabihis na nga siya.

he tried asking me again sa car kung anong nangyari pero deadma na lang ako and changed the subject....

we ended at 2 am dahil may work pa rin naman ako. he had to get up early at 5:30 for his class. sabi niya 4 hours lang daw tulog niya the previous evening.

we're going out again tonight.
